Lesley had a golden opportunity to work in Washington, D.C providing lipspeaking support at the British Embassy. “A month away from home is a long time but it gave me the opportunity to embrace the D.C lifestyle, understand Congress (Senate and the House of Representatives) and even some free time to explore the district of Washington D.C and the Potomac river-breathtaking”
Americans have heard of lipreading and speech reading but the term lipspeaking is not well known and Lesley had to repeat the job description many times. Interesting, 1:20 Americans are deaf compared to 1:7 in the UK (some say 1:6 now).
Lesley is off to Dubai in December 2015 to showcase lipspeaking in the middle east.
